Thousands of wagging tongues
Uproar of noise everywhere
Humming of sorrowful songs
And I found myself everywhere in nowhere
All I saw from right to left
Was but like a nightmare
The very description of hell
And the only thing I could do was to yell
But all I heard was nothing if my voice
No matter how hard I tried
And right there I concluded I was dead
Or in some sort of vision of hell
Unspeakable atrocities everywhere
Disgusting behaviour the eyes too naive to behold
At that moment I wished I was in my abode
My sweet world free from all blemish and pain
Where love and truth was our motto
Or so I thought
I looked around
But I didn't have to
Everything was right before my very eyes
All at once
Murder in quest for power
Lust in place of love
Theft to acquire wealth
A child! A parent to a child
Not only did I have a feeling of nausea
Feeling irritated from the depth of my stomach
I felt an heartache
Arousing the highest form of anger
The pain of the victims
Penetrating into the marrows of my soul
And the cruel injustice
Suffocating the life in me
And with all the strength I had left
Coupled with my last scrap of courage
'STOP!' I yelled
And I felt a thousand eyes fixed on me
Everywhere as silent as a graveyard
And everything was dawned on me
It became crystal clear
My home of abode
My perfect world where love and truth was the motto
Was nothing but just my world

POET'S NOTE
' MY WORLD ' is a poem that skillfully points out the ill of the society and the nonchalant, selfish attitude of the average people.
The persona in the poem who is at the epic centre of all the events happens to have been living in an illusion. This illusion is shattered upon the realization that outside his perfect world is a world of pain and anguish.
It also gives hope to the hopeless promising a much more better world, a crime free country and a promising life.
If only we could try to feel and imagine the pain of the victims. If only we could see beyond our perfect world and see other worlds crashing! if only we could speak up for the less privileged and back it up with an action! Just if only we could all do these!! Then the world will be more perfect than the so called perfect world we believe we have.
